Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has hinted that a new striker is his main target during the January transfer window."We would suffer here if we lost Kevin Doyle or Sylvan Ebanks-Blake," he said.

"We've got bids in for players but we can't do any business without someone else's permission. You are reliant on people accepting them."

Wolves are rumoured to be interested in Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford while McCarthy may return with a second offer for Hull winger Stephen Hunt.

But the former Republic of Ireland and Sunderland boss was unwilling to add Wolves to a growing list of suitors for Beckford. "Us and how many others have been linked with Beckford? Do you think his agent might be working overtime?" said McCarthy.
